Razors in the Night is an American Oi! hardcore punk rock band from Boston, Massachusetts.
Razors in the Night has been called a tour de force of Boston Rock 'n' Roll History. Composed of ex-members of Pure Impact, BEWARE!, and The Acro-Brats, they take their name from a BLITZ song. RITN has taken the Boston Scene by storm, sharing the stage with such punk legends as The Business, Resistance '77, Regan Youth, The Unseen, The Casualties and The Mighty Might Bosstones. RITN's sound is somewhat anomalous, fusing Hardcore and Oi! -- with a touch of garage influencing their sound. Their live shows never disappoint, featuring front-man Troy Schoeller engaging the audience with the intensity of a well-trained bull. The Boston Herald described Razors as "the new vanguards of...Boston hardcore."[1] and categorized by one reviewer as true in your face, shaved head, Doc wearing Boston music and a show well worth your hard earned working class dollar.[2] Razors first international release "Carry On!" has been released in the USA, European (licensing through Contra Records- Germany), Czech Republic (Licensing through 4Subculture Records), Belgium (Pure Impact Distro) Canada (Longshot Music).[3]
RITN's songs range from the thrashy, in-your-face assault, "Hipster Holocaust", to the catchy title track, "Carry On", to the anthemic Oi! ballad, "Skinheads Alright." RITN has been a popular hardcore band in the Boston club scene first performing in February 2009. They have cited drugs, alcohol, unemployment, depression, heartache, loose women with looser ethics and Clamweiser[4] along with groups from British Oi! & Boston Hardcore as the major influences on the group. Bands such as The Last Resort, BLITZ, 4-Skins, Condemned 84, Blood for Blood, Slapshot, American Nightmare, Dropkick Murphys, Darkbuster, Death Before Dishonor, Snapcase, The Haunted, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, GG Allin & The Jabbers, The Who, Motörhead, Perkele from Sweden and Stomper 98 from Germany[5] round out a wide array of music that help give RITN their own sound.
In 2010 RITN was nominated by the Boston Phoenix for Best New Act[6] and Best Punk Act.[7]
